We went cycling on Valentine's day. It was cloudy but nice to ride the bike around the countryside.

The place is called Sankeng, a Hakka village. Old style buildings and rice fields surround the bikeroad and you can easily find Hakka culture by communicating with local residents, having the special dishes or enjoying the sight of the village.

There are several bike rental stores and the rent is not expensive so you can enjoy the trip as long as you want.

    DSC00100DSC00101

The spring breeze was blowing and I enjoyed myself riding the bike and admiring the scene.

Don't be afraid of being lost because there are signs showing the directions clear.

    DSC00121DSC00120DSC00112DSC00125

And you can take a break in the natural park. My friend's son saw a lobster in the lake and he was trying to catch it but he caught nothing finally!

After cycling, we were all hungry and looking for some food to fill our tummies.

    One is greater than two?:DD:DD:DD

    starbucks8

Just right after Chinese New Year holidays, the first day back to work, I visited the grand opening Starbucks at Jhongli. The weather was sunny and warm and inside of the shop few people were enjoying the relaxing morning. Some people were rushed getting coffee to work and the street was getting busy with motorbikes and cars. Mmmmm...It's time to say goodbye to holidays but keep this in mind, "Be cheerful and thankful in any season!"

Shihmen dam is a good place for one day trip. You can go mountain climbing, watch the big reservoir, and eat the fresh fish dishes.

    DSC00284

It was the early spring trip so the cherry trees were in full bloom. In fact, you can visit Shihmen in any season and you'll discover the different but distinctive flavour of Lake Districk in Taiwan.

That was early in the morning on Tuesday, waiting the train to go back my hometown, I rushed to the store getting a cup of Mocha to wake up my sleepy head. The same smiles were welcoming me, hmmmmmmm... I had no time to observe the workers and people but I noticed a family were sitting relaxed and talking about Chinese New Year and then it began raining outside... It's still a beautiful day started at Starbucks!

Life is sweet with the cheerful heart and creative mind! I start my journey at Starbucks because you can easily find starbucks everywhere, wherever you're in America, Japane, England, or Taiwan! However, each shop has its own style and I call it,"Localization." Actually, I didn't take it serious of observing the people, workers, and decorations on the wall in the shops until last summer this special starbucks in Riverside, CF caught my eye. It's a busy shop, but the workers were all wearing big smiles so when I stepped into the shop the enthusiasm for serving customers and making coffee inspired me to rethink the world! Hey, that's so interesting when you start put your esys on others, not on yourself and you'll find the key of having joy!

Let's go cycling! In Taiwan the new and popular recreation is cycling; during weekend you can see the young or old couples, men or women, children or adults, whoever are riding bikes on the streets. It's a good movement gets people exercise in this overweight society.

    DSC00255

In Taichung County you can find a bikeway with the ideal scenes and designed paths and here while you enjoy the delight of the cycling you can discover the cultural heritage and local custom of Taiwan as well.

    Let's go!

Take a break and appreciate the beautiful view!

    DSC00242DSC00243DSC00244DSC00245DSC00248

Rejoin my trip. In fact, there are 8 kilometres left to the end!

    DSC00256DSC00259DSC00260

The path I chose was DONGFONG which is the longest path(a 36 kilometres round trip) of these bikeways in this area. If you're afraid of riding so long then you can choose other paths. It's up to you!

I broke many times to take photos, admire the pretty scenery and enjoy the sunshine! Moreover, there are many plum blossoms planted along the way.

By the way, if you love riding you can also visit Houli horse farm.

Chinese New Year is a big festival in Taiwan and most people have a family reunion dinner on new year's eve. But for me, I always look forward to the second day of the new year not the new year's eve. The big, real, warm and tasty family reunion meal on the second day of the new year with over 20 relatives and the most importatnt key, my mom cooks! 5 jars of wine1

5 jars of wine is a hill in Taoyuon County and it's a good place for hiking. I didn't konw why this place called 5 jars of wine until I saw many sets of 5 jars of wine putting aside on the trail and then I began wondering "Is there any wine in those jars?"

    DSC00192DSC00193DSC00194DSC00195DSC00196DSC00197DSC00198DSC00199DSC00200DSC00201

The most excited moment in our hiking was going down the prependicular stairs. My friends and I were trembling down...

I finally sighed with relief when I stepped on the ground!
